I believe that whatever we do in life we should try to make it pleasurable, even the prosaic things and I hope my pots illustrate this.

I became fascinated with pottery when very young. Watching the intermission on TV, a pair of hands would throw a mass of clay onto a wheelhead and in a few minutes, it became a pot. Magic!

Over the years I had thought of trying potting and in 1996, I took a pottery evening class at North Oxford College of Art. I started throwing clay and my hands managed quite well with little input from the brain.

I now have my own pottery and work almost exclusively in stoneware. My pots are mainly thrown on the wheel but some are hand-built using coils or slabs. I produce practical pots that are also a pleasure to use. Some of my pots however are rather less than practical, resulting from the sheer joy of making.

I use a variety of glazes, sometimes on their own and sometimes in combination. The results are always interesting and sometimes spectacular as I take full advantage of ash and iron bearing glazes.

I discovered that I enjoy teaching and helping others to enjoy the pleasures of potting.

You are welcome to visit the pottery, but please call first to ensure I'm in.
